I don’t always have ramen when I go to Aloha. In fact, initially it wasn’t even my favourite dish there, that was one called Poke. This is a traditional fish salad from Hawaii, usually served as an appetiser. At Aloha, it comes with rice, some crispy wontons and salad on top, but I prefer it in a more basic state, so ask for the salad to be left out of the dish. What you get is a raw tuna similar to a tartare. Delicious!
To start with this evening I also had a serve of kinilaw, another dish that can seem a bit like a raw fish tartare, and is more commonly known as a ceviche.
