A couple of weeks ago I was driving down the Gold Coast Highway and saw a Japanese place, Donto Sapporo, that I had not considered before. As my mission is now to seek out every venue selling natto, I took a stroll up the highway that same night after parking my car, to be pleasantly surprised by what I found.
Donto Sapporo is a wonderful restaurant, very traditional (from what I can see) with a pretty decent menu. Luckily for me, they also serve natto, but unfortunately they only prepare it one way, in a hosomaki. Still, a lovely taste and well presented. On this occasion I also tried ninniku (garlic cloves) tempura, which were surprisingly delicious. Finally, what’s a Japanese meal without sake from a traditional masu measurement cup.
